Whoops! We couldn't find any Instagram accounts connected to that Facebook account

Are you seeing this error while trying to get your Instagram business account connected to Buffer?

First, check that you are signed in with the Facebook account that is an admin on the Page connected to the Instagram account. If that looks correct, then this error can also appear if the permissions for Buffer to access your Facebook account have not been properly set up. This is most likely to occur if you you modify any permissions under the "Choose what you allow" section in Facebook when authorizing Buffer to access your Facebook account.

To resolve this, you'll need to check the permissions in Facebook, following the steps below.

    1. Verify that your Facebook page is still connected to the Instagram channel as expected. Note: this will look different depending on if your Facebook Page is on the "classic" or "new" Pages experience. To check for which version you have and how to verify the Facebook/Instagram connection, follow the steps on this Meta help page.
    2. After checking that your Facebook page and Instagram channel are connected, click on the small drop down arrow at the top right of your screen and then click Settings & privacy > Settings. From there, click Business integrations on the left hand side (or click this link).

    3. Find Buffer in the list of integrations and click View and edit.

    4. In the pop up window, we need to ensure that all Facebook Pages are checked in all sections. Once you've checked all Pages, click Save. If you don’t see any individual Pages listed here, it means that you’ve previously granted Buffer permissions to access all Pages, which is the ideal setup. In this case, you won’t need to check any Pages here, and instead you’ll need to reestablish the authorization, as described in step 5.

    5. Once that's done, try connecting your Instagram account to Buffer again.
    6. If you still see the same error, or you didn’t see Pages to add in step 3, you'll need to remove Buffer from Business Integrations in Facebook entirely, in order to then reestablish the authorization for Buffer for access your Facebook account with the correct permissions. You can do that by checking the box next to Buffer and clicking Remove.

📝 It's important to note that this will disconnect any existing Facebook and Instagram accounts you have connected to Buffer and those will need to be reconnected.

    7. Once that's done, head back over to Buffer and try reconnecting your Instagram account again.
    8. If you still aren’t able to connect your Instagram account to Buffer after following this guidance, it’ll be important to revisit your Page roles for the Facebook Page associated with the Instagram account you’re trying to connect.
