The personal avatar that appears next to your name in the upper-right of your dashboard is auto-populated from Gravatar. Therefore, if you change the image in Gravatar that's associated with the email address you use in Buffer, the change should also reflect in your Buffer account. 

Changing your Buffer user / account name

At this time, it isn't possible to change your own user / account name within the Team area of Buffer. If you'd like to update it, please get in touch via hello@buffer.com and let us know the current name you want to change and the new name you want to use. Once we have that information, we'll happily make the change for you.
