Using Buffer's keyboard shortcuts

1min read

Share

Buffer's keyboard shortcuts let you jump between pages and take common actions without touching your mouse. Press a shortcut from anywhere in Buffer (as long as you're not typing in a text field) to go straight to Publishing, Insights, Community, and more, or open the composer to start a new post or idea. You can also open the in-app command bar with Cmd/Ctrl + K     to search and jump to any page.

Keyboard shortcuts dialog

The Keyboard Shortcuts dialog gives you a quick reference for all of Buffer's available keyboard shortcuts without leaving the page you're on.

To open it, use either of these from anywhere in Buffer:

  • Press Shift + /      (i.e. ?     )
  • Press Cmd/Ctrl + /

You can also find it in the Help & Support menu in the bottom left navigation.

How shortcuts work

Keyboard shortcuts work as two-key sequences: press the first key, then press the second key right after (you don't need to hold them together). For example, from anywhere in Buffer, press G     then P     to jump straight to your Publishing tab.

Shortcuts are suppressed while your cursor is in a text field, like the composer or a search box, so typing normally won't accidentally trigger a jump.

You'll find the full list of shortcuts below.

FAQ

What happened to Quick Navigator?

Quick Navigator has been retired and removed from the Help menu. Everything it used to do is now built right into Buffer: use the keyboard shortcuts above to jump between pages, or press Cmd/Ctrl + K to open the in-app command bar and search for any page.
