Managing subscriptions from the App or Google Play Store
You can manage your Buffer subscription directly through the App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your device. This guide walks you through how to view, update, or cancel your subscription from either platform.

If you subscribed through the App Store, some changes take effect right away, while others apply at your next renewal.

Because the App Store and Google Play have limits on the price points and subscription products they support, not all Buffer plans are available as in-app purchases on both platforms. This means some upgrade options that are available on the web aren't shown in-app.
- If a plan you want isn't listed, you can still upgrade via the Buffer web app instead. :::
iOS
Available plans on the iOS app (App Store)
On iPhone or iPad, you can upgrade your current plan to these options when purchasing through the App Store:
Essentials
- Essentials with 1–10 channels — monthly and annual billing options
Team
- Team with 1–8 channels — monthly and annual billing options
- Team with 9–10 channels — monthly only (annual billing is not available in the App Store due to App Store maximum pricing limits)
Starting a subscription
- Login to the Buffer app.
- Tap the menu in the upper left corner of the app.
- Scroll down to Account Settings.
- Under the "Subscription" heading, tap View Plans.
- Choose a plan from the options listed by tapping the purple Upgrade button.
- Confirm your purchase by double-clicking your side button as directed. You'll be charged on the card you have associated with the App Store.
Restoring a subscription
If you have an existing subscription through the App Store that is not reflecting in the app, you can use the following steps to restore the subscription:
- Login to the Buffer app.
- Tap the menu in the upper left corner of the app.
- Scroll down to Account Settings.
- Scroll down until you see "Subscription" and then tap Restore In-App Subscription.
Upgrading or downgrading your subscription

From the Buffer app, tap the 3 bars in the top left corner.

Tap Manage Plan to:
- add or remove channel slots (e.g. go from Essentials monthly - 1 channel to Essentials monthly - 2 channels)
- choose a new plan (e.g. switch from Essentials to Team or vice versa).
Cancelling your subscription
:::info Not subscribed through the mobile app? If your subscription wasn't purchased through mobile, follow the steps to cancel or delete your account. :::
- Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
- Tap Apple Account, iCloud+ and more (listed under your name at top of the screen).
- Tap on Subscriptions — you may be prompted to sign in.
- Tap Buffer.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, which will cancel the subscription at the end of the current billing cycle.
Requesting a refund for incorrect charges
From your iOS device:
- Request a refund via this link: bufferapp://refund (Note: this link only works on iOS devices).
From a computer:
- Visit Apple's "Report a Problem" page at reportaproblem.apple.com for specific instructions.
:::info Note: Apple is only able to provide refunds for purchases made within the last 90 days. :::
Accessing receipts
On iPhone:
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Tap your name at the top of the profile page.
- Scroll down and choose Purchase History.
- Find the order and tap the "Total Billed" label to see the transaction details.
- Tap Resend to have it emailed to you again.
Android
Available plans on the Android app (Google Play Store)
On Android devices, you can upgrade through the Google Play Store to the following plans, with availability differing slightly from iOS:
Essentials
- Essentials with 1–5 channels — monthly and annual billing options
- Essentials with 6–10 channels — monthly only
Team
- Team with 1–10 channels — monthly only
- Team with 1–2 channels — annual billing only
:::info Note: Because Google Play enforces lower pricing limits than iOS, some annual and higher-tier plans available on the web aren't supported for in-app purchase there. :::
Starting a subscription
- From the Buffer app, tap the Settings wheel on the bottom right corner, then Account Settings.
- Under the "Subscription" heading, tap View Plans.
- Choose a plan from the options listed by tapping the purple Upgrade button.
- Confirm your purchase. You'll be charged on the card you have associated with Google Play.
Restoring a subscription
If you have an existing subscription through the Google Play Store that is not reflecting in the app, you can use the following steps to restore the subscription:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Find the subscription you want to restore.
- Tap Reactivate or Restore.
You can also find this option within the Buffer app:
- From the Buffer app, tap the Settings wheel on the bottom right corner, then Account Settings.
- Under the "Subscription" heading, tap Restore In-App Subscription.

Upgrading or downgrading your subscription
- To upgrade, tap the three lines in the top left corner of your Buffer app and scroll down to select Add New Channel.
- To change your plan or downgrade, select a channel from the left sidebar, then tap Account Settings. Scroll down to Subscriptions and tap Get More With Essentials to see all the plan options.
- Select your new plan from the menu.
Cancelling your subscription
- On your mobile device, open the Google Play app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Tap Payments and subscriptions.
- Select Buffer from the list of subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel and follow the instructions provided onscreen.
Requesting a refund
If you'd like to request a refund for your Android subscription, please contact our support team at hello@buffer.com and we'll be happy to help process that for you. We're able to refund your most recent payment directly. For older charges, you may need to request a refund through Google Play's refund help page.
Accessing receipts
When making a purchase from the Play Store, the receipt is emailed to you. There isn't an option to resend receipts, but you can review your purchase history on Google Payments:
- Head over to payments.google.com then log in with your desired Google account.
- Select Activity to display your Play Store order history.
- Choose an individual entry to view its corresponding receipt.
