How to generate hashtags
- Go to buffer.com/free-tools/ai-hashtag-generator.
- In the text field, enter your topic or paste the text of your post.
- Optionally, add your niche or industry for more targeted suggestions.
- Select your social network from the dropdown: Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, or Facebook.
- Choose how many hashtags you want: 1, 3, 5, or 10.
- Click Generate.
💡 Tip: Pasting your actual post text (rather than just a topic keyword) tends to produce more specific, relevant hashtags — the AI has more context to work with.
Using your results
Once your hashtags appear:
