Using Post Groups in Buffer

When you create posts for multiple social channels in one composer session, Buffer now automatically groups them together as a Post Group. This gives you a single place to view and manage all the related posts you created together instead of hunting for them individually across your channels.

What is a Post Group?

A Post Group is a way to associate all the posts you create together in a single composer session. For example, if you open the composer and create posts for X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok at the same time, those four posts become one Post Group. Each post still lives on its own channel and publishes independently, but Post Groups make it easy to see them as a connected set.

Why use Post Groups?

  • See related posts in one place. Instead of scrolling through each channel's queue to find the posts you created together, you can view them as a group in the Post Groups details dialog.
  • Context for your content. Understanding which posts were created together helps you review and manage cross-channel campaigns more easily.

How Post Groups are created

Post Groups are created automatically — you don't need to do anything. Every time you use the Buffer Web Composer to create posts, those posts are grouped together behind the scenes.

📝 Good to Know:

  • Post Groups are created in the web composer.
  • Each individual post in a group still publishes, reschedules, and edits independently. Grouping doesn't change how individual posts behave.

Viewing your Post Groups

Once you've created posts together in the composer, you can view them as a group using the Post Groups Details Dialog.

  1. Go to your Buffer Publishing dashboard.
  2. Find one of the posts that was part of a group.
  3. Click the three vertical dots ⋮ in the bottom right corner.
  4. Select Post Details to view the Post Group.
  5. Here you can see all posts that were created in the same session, along with their channel, status, and scheduled time.

Good to Knows

📝 Good to Knows:

  • Post Groups are available on all Buffer plans, including Free.
  • Posts created before Post Groups launched may already appear grouped if they were created in the same composer session.
  • Editing one post in a group doesn't affect the others. Each post in a group is still independent — you can edit, delete, or reschedule individual posts without changing the rest of the group.
  • Post Groups are currently available in the Web Composer only. Mobile support is not available yet.
