How locations work when scheduling Instagram posts through Buffer
Adding a location to your Instagram posts is a great way to bring new eyes to your content. You're able to tag locations in two ways.
- You can type in a popular location, such as a city you live in or have traveled to.
- Or, you can type in a business name, for instance, if you're writing a post about a recent visit. To tag a business' location, simply type in the name of the Facebook Page associated with that business in the location field. If the Facebook Page has a location set up, the Page's name will be returned in the search results so you can select it.
📝 Check out this guide from Facebook if you'd like steps on adding a location to your own Facebook Page. It's important that this checkbox is ticked. If it's not ticked, this will result in the location being hidden on Instagram.
When your post is published, the name of the location or the name of the Facebook Page will be shown beneath the Instagram account handle. Clicking on that hyperlink will take the user to a view showing both the "Top" and "Recent" posts tagged with that same location.
