How locations work when scheduling Instagram posts through Buffer

Adding an Instagram location is only available for Instagram channels connected to Buffer through Facebook. If you have connected Instagram to Buffer by logging into Instagram directly and want to add locations to your posts, you can use these steps to connect a Facebook page and reauthenticate to Buffer through Facebook.

Bring new eyes to your Instagram posts by adding a location. When you search for locations, we'll be able to tag any business or location that has an associated Facebook page.

Start typing in the name of the Facebook Page associated in the location field of Buffer. If the Facebook Page has a location set up, it'll populate in your search results.

📝 Check out this guide from Facebook if you'd like steps on adding a location to your own Facebook Page. It's important that this checkbox is ticked. If it's not ticked, this will result in the location being hidden on Instagram.

When your post is published, the name of the location or the name of the Facebook Page will be shown beneath the Instagram account handle. Clicking on that hyperlink will take the user to a view showing both the "Top" and "Recent" posts tagged with that same location.
