While Pinterest has the option to create both personal accounts and business accounts, it's only possible for third parties like Buffer to integrate with Pinterest business accounts.
If you already have a business account, you are set to connect your Pinterest account to Buffer! If you don't yet have a Pinterest business account, there are three ways to set one up in Pinterest.
- Create a new business account
- Convert a Pinterest personal account into a business account
- Create a linked business account
đź“ť If you are sure you have a Pinterest business account, but Buffer isn't yet detecting it, let's get it back into action by refreshing your connection by heading over to the Channels area. This should allow Buffer to correctly detect which Pinterest account you have. If you currently have a Pinterest personal account, you can convert it into a business account. You also have the option of creating a business account that is linked to your personal account.

Converting your Pinterest personal account into a business account
Pinterest allows users to convert their Pinterest personal accounts to business accounts and back at any time. The great news is that you can convert it without losing any of your pins or followers, so there’s no fear in converting your account to a business account in order to connect it to Buffer.
đź“ť If you already have a Pinterest business account linked to your personal account, you would not be able to convert your personal account into a business account. You will need to close your linked business account beforehand.

Log into your personal Pinterest account.

From the top right corner, click on the down arrow and select Convert to business.

On the next screen, click Convert account.

Fill out the fields to Build your Profile and click Next.

Fill out the options to Describe your Business and click Next.

Choose if you would be interested in running ads on Pinterest and click Next.

Select where you would like to start or click on the X in the top right corner to go to your converted business account.
Creating a linked business account
If you’re keen to have both a Pinterest personal and a business account, you might find that linking your business account to your personal account is the best option. Here’s how you’ll go about creating a business account that links to your personal account:

Log into your personal Pinterest account.

From the top right corner, click on the down arrow and select Add account.

Under Create a free business account, click Create.

Select Create a linked business account.

Select Created linked account.

Fill out the fields to Build your Profile and click Next.

Fill out the options to Describe your Business and click Next.

Choose if you would be interested in running ads on Pinterest and click Next.

Select where you would like to start or click on X to go to your converted business account.
