# Understanding sent post metrics within Buffer's Publish dashboard

The *Sent* tab within your publishing dashboard provides a history of all of your published posts. Looking at your posts individually allows you to draw comparisons and see patterns around which posting times are working best for you and what type of content your audience is most engaged with.

## Sent tab features

The features within the Sent tab differ depending on if you have a Free or a paid plan, as shown in the table below.

| <br />                 | *Free plan*       | *All paid plans*  |
| :--------------------- | :---------------- | :---------------- |
| **History of posts**   | 30 days           | Full history\*    |
| **Analytics on posts** | Yes, on all plans | Yes, on all plans |
| **Duplicate feature** | Yes, on all plans | Yes, on all plans |

*\*TikTok's API doesn't share how far back we can pull data. We pull as many posts as we can from your post history.*

## Performance metrics

The table below provides an overview of which performance metrics are available for each channel.

:::info
***Good-to-know:*** Buffer normalizes engagement metrics across networks so you can compare performance more easily.

* What shows as *Reactions* may be called *Likes* on Instagram, *Favorites* on Mastodon, or *Reactions* on LinkedIn.
* *Comments* may appear as *Replies* on Threads.
* *Reposts* is the normalized label for cross-network resharing. This may appear as *Retweets* on X/Twitter, *Reblogs* on Mastodon, and *Reshares* on Bluesky.

***\*Notes on Instagram Personal accounts:***

* While you can see past notifications within the Sent tab, you will not be able to view post metrics.
* We are unable to pull in native posts for Instagram Personal accounts at this time.

***\*Notes on X/Twitter posts:***

* X/Twitter sent post data is only available [on our current, paid plans](http://buffer.com/pricing). At this time, we're unable to retrieve sent post data for Free accounts. If you're on the Free plan and not seeing any X posts in the Sent tab, starting a free trial or upgrading to a paid plan will allow data to populate.
* Data for posts published natively on X/Twitter are fetched daily and can take up to 24 hours to appear in the Sent tab of Publish. Native post metrics may appear as "0" until the data is fetched. Posts published through Buffer will appear immediately.
* We are only able to pull in 100 sent posts per day on X/Twitter. If you are publishing more than 100 posts per day natively and via Buffer, we will prioritize pulling in posts published through Buffer first (therefore, native posts may be missing).

***\*Notes on LinkedIn posts****:* LinkedIn's API sends Buffer aggregated totals that can look higher than what you see in LinkedIn's own dashboard.

* *Reactions* include reactions on other users' reposts of your content, in addition to reactions on your original post.
* *Comments* include nested replies underneath top-level comments, not just top-level comments.
* This isn't a counting discrepancy in Buffer — LinkedIn's analytics UI shows only direct engagement on the original post, while its API returns the full total.

## Metric descriptions for your sent posts

**Reactions**: The number of likes/reactions your post received.

**Clicks:** The number of clicks your post received.

**Comments:** The number of clicks your post received.

**Reposts:** The number of times your post was reshared.

**Reach:** The number of unique people who saw your post.

**Views:** The number of times a user intentionally starts watching a video and watches for at least 30 seconds.\*

***

*\*For YouTube Shorts,* [*views will now count the number of times a Short starts to play or replay*](https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/333869549)*, with no minimum watch time requirement.*

## How to share posts again

With so much content on social media now, posts can easily get missed and lost in the flow, and we understand that you need to get maximum visibility. The *Duplicate* feature allows you to add published posts back into your queue to share a second time. Due to social networks becoming much stricter on the duplication of content, we recommend using this feature lightly, and making changes to your post text or image before sharing them multiple times. You can find guidance on resharing posts in the article: [Is it possible to schedule one post to repeat multiple times?](https://support.buffer.com/en-us/articles/is-it-possible-to-schedule-one-post-to-repeat-multiple-times-521zxc7H5D)

To duplicate a post:

1. Find the post you want to duplicate within the Sent tab.
2. Click the three dots in the bottom right corner of the post.
3. Select ***Duplicate*.**

   ![Screenshot: post options with arrow pointing to Duplicate](https://support.buffer.com/api/attachments.redirect?id=a2627bc6-5440-4a44-a7ac-9bcbcb05ca96 " =2498x1018")
4. The composer should open. Select the channels you'd like to post to, make any changes to your post, and schedule it to complete the process.

## How to add Notes to shared posts

## FAQ

**Are native posts included in the Sent tab?**
We’re able to pull in native posts for Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Pinterest, and LinkedIn Pages for Free customers. On [our paid plans](http://buffer.com/pricing), we pull in native posts for Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, LinkedIn Pages, Pinterest, and X/Twitter.

**How far back does the data go?**
When you *initially connect a channel* to Buffer, we'll backfill the following amount of native post data:

* Facebook: 50 posts
* LinkedIn: 50 posts
* Threads: 50 posts
* Bluesky: 50 posts
* Mastodon: 50 posts
* TikTok: 25 posts
* Instagram: 50 posts
* X/Twitter: 100 posts created in the last 30 days (paid plans & trials only)
* Pinterest: 250 pins from up to 1000 boards.

Then, going forward, we'll show the following amount of *post history:*

* On the Free plan, you'll see a history of posts from the past 30 days.
* On our paid plans, you'll see a history of posts from the past 2 years.
* *Please note that we'll show posts that have been sent since you added your social channel to Buffer*.

**Will deleted posts still appear in the Sent tab?**
Yes. The Sent tab is a record of all posts sent through Buffer, so a post will still appear in the Sent tab even if the published post has been deleted on the social network.

**Is it possible to view all of my published posts in one view?**
Yes, you can view all of your published posts in one list using the All Channels view. [Learn more about How to use the All Channels view in Buffer here](https://support.buffer.com/en-us/articles/how-to-use-the-all-channels-view-in-buffer-oqqE4Sdf3T).

**How can I delete or edit a published post?**
At this time, we are unable to edit or delete a post once it's been published through Buffer. Instead, you'll need to edit or delete the published post directly on the social network. You can find a history of your published posts [within the Sent tab of the Publish dashboard](https://support.buffer.com/en-us/articles/understanding-sent-post-metrics-within-buffers-publish-dashboard-kppgBDLK6y).

**Why are the analytics for my sent post showing as dashes or zero?**
It may take some time for analytics data to sync and appear. If it persists, ensure your channel is properly connected and authenticated.

:::info
Note: This only affects how the post preview appears to you in Buffer. It doesn't affect what's published to your followers, your Story still goes out with the full video and music intact.
:::

**Why does my Instagram Story show a cover image instead of the video?**

For Instagram Stories that use copyrighted music, Meta doesn't share the video file with us for licensing reasons. When this happens, we'll show the cover image Meta provides instead of leaving the preview blank.

:::info
Note: This only affects how the post preview appears to you in Buffer. It doesn't affect what's published to your followers, your Story still goes out with the full video and music intact.
:::

**Will the sent posts show who created the post?**
