# Adding alt text to your images on the Buffer mobile app

Currently, it is possible to add alt text to static images scheduled to X/Twitter, Mastodon, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, and Facebook through Buffer.

When you have added an image to your post in the Buffer composer ([Learn more about scheduling posts on the Buffer mobile app](https://support.buffer.com/en-us/articles/scheduling-posts-on-the-buffer-mobile-app-jbqNo8FyUs)), tap the image and then tap ***Add Description ***to add your alt text and then tap ***Done*** to save the changes. From there, you can finish scheduling your post.

While we recommend using less than 200 characters to align with [accessibility best practices](https://www.accessibility.com/blog/what-are-best-practices-for-creating-alt-text), the character counts for alt text in Buffer are as follows:

* Pinterest - 500 characters
* LinkedIn - 300 characters
* X/Twitter, Mastodon, Threads, Facebook, Instagram - 1,000 characters
* Bluesky - 2,000 characters

 **Good-to-Knows**

* It is only possible to view alt text on Instagram with a screen reader.
* Currently within Buffer, it is not possible to add alt text to:
  * GIFS
  * Google Business Profile posts
  * Tiktok posts
